BRODY Environment Change Study
BRODY is an environment set surrounding the over one hundred years west Ukraine has been in the midst of war. The brief was to create an environment that has experienced human change - war, famine, climate disaster ect. Through this, we were to depict different lighting and weather changes to one angle of the scene.
BRODY is very close to my heart, as my great grandparents lived in west Ukraine before being displaced in WW2. It was not only fulfilling digging into my family history, but creating a design process that is intricate and technical.
Bioluminescent Bilbies Layout Study
in 2020, scientists discovered small marsupials in Australia produced a bioluminescent glow under UV light (Edwards, 2020). This concept asks: "but what if that glow was detectible under visible light?"
Bioluminescent Bilbies is a layout project that depicts a fantastical environment based on a real animal and its perspective. I decided to depict Bilbies from Windora if they produced a bioluminescent glow. I got to dive into world logic and how the creatures, big and small, impact the visual design of an environment.
Port of Melbourne Safety and Critical Risks - Environments Art Director/Lead
The Port of Melbourne Safety and Critical Risks was a short information series commission by the Port of Melbourne through Griffith University. We were tasked with making a series of short videos explaining safety risks whilst working on the port, and how to avoid them.
Alongside the character Art Director Codi Monroe, I headed the background design Art Direction. This included setting up the style guide, and creating visual development material for the project.
Beyond the Pond Dossier Concept
Beyond the Pond was a design dossier exploring the life of a little frog and her quest of self discovery. The brief outlined three design concepts we had to choose from, and develop a world around.
I am especially proud of my backgrounds in this project. As this is a project targeted at younger children, I got to play with bright colours and heavy shape language to make the frog pond visually appealing and fun.
Loss and Birth Layout Concept
Loss and Birth was a simple perspective assignment, which asked us to create a scene using one and two point perspective.
I took this opportunity to play with visual storytelling through props and lighting, to tell a story about the passing of moved ones, balancing old age and caring for a new life.
